Validation of EDF
or EDF+
compatibility
Bob
Kemp
Some manufacturers
have asked me
to validate and publish
EDF(+) compatibility
of their system. So, I have designed a procedure. But first,
please
save my time and your money and check your files
by using this free and easy EDF-header
checker for Windows.
After that, I
am prepared to validate your files. Successfull validation implies that
the values in you files (for instance time and calibrations) are EDF(+)
compatible, not that they are correct. Validation reports
may only be published by myself through my Companies
page. Software
that is EDF(+) compatible will be highlighted by the EDF(+) logo. Each
report
and logo will be removed after 3 years, but I will first offer
you
a 'refresh' validation. Any software that appears to not support EDF(+)
(anymore)
will be removed. It is your responsibility to inform me of relevant
address
or other changes.
Requests for validation must be addressed to
me. The request should mention:
- name,
complete
address and URL of the owner
of the software
- for EU
customers, your VAT number
- name,
complete address and email of a
person
who will answer EDF questions for the next 3 years
- the exact name
and version of the software
that is to be validated
The fee is 1000€
for which I will send an invoice
to the owner of the software. The invoice contains the address
to which you must send one CD-ROM with 1-3 EDF(+) files that
are
produced
by the software that is to be validated. The file(s) must include all
types of
polygraphic
signals that are supported by your software. The file must be produced
using the
exact same procedure as you are offering to the average customer. In
fact,
most convincing would be that the files come from a lab that is using
your
system in a routine setting. In that case, I can add the lab, its head
and an appropriate email contact at that lab (all information supplied
by you) to my report, of course provided they allow me to do so. The
files remain my property. I may publish (parts of) it with my report,
so
you must make sure that no identification of subjects / patients is
possible.
After reception of payment, file(s) and (optionally) routine lab info,
my report
on EDF(+) compatibility should be available within 2 months. I
will publish the report on the Companies
page and inform you about that.
In
case
of small problems, you and I may agree on a period of a few
months
during which the report remains there while you make adjustments for
another
try. If you and I feel that the report contains a clear injustice, we
will
discuss this and I may produce a modified report. In any case, for
instance
when there are bigger problems, you or I may decide to have the
validated
system removed from the page.
My colleagues and I are
good at EDF and EDF+,
but we can make mistakes for
which we do not have any insurance. Our understanding of your software
and systems is limited. Of course, any obvious mistakes will be
corrected
when brought to our attention. And I want to provide objective and
trustworthy
information about EDF and EDF+. But we cannot accept any liability
related to
this
validation. This is not an official certification body. So any damages
related to this validation or publication are your own risk.
